Food Shopping
There is an excellent village shop in Tysoe as well as a post office and a café.
There are supermarkets in Banbury (20 minutes) including a large Waitrose and a Tesco Superstore. Banbury also has a very good Majestic Wines store.
There are excellent food shops, delicatessen and one of the finest wine merchants in the country in Shipston-on-Stour (12 minutes). There are also good bakeries, farm shops and organic farm shops in villages nearby.

The Church of St Mary in Tysoe dates from the late 11th century and is worth a visit.
Compton Verney is a beautiful stately home dating from 1442 with Capability Brown gardens. Following a huge restoration project by The Peter Moores Foundation, it was transformed into an art gallery with a permanent collection and temporary exhibitions. There is also a café and a shop.
Upton House and Gardens in Upton is a stately home built in the 1930s and houses a world-renowned art collection including great masters and a rare porcelain collection. The gardens, designed by Kathleen Lloyd Jones are beautiful. There are many activities for children and also a café.
Edgehill is where one of main battles of the English Civil War was fought in 1642. It is a spectacular site with wonderful walks.
Warwick Castle dating from 1068 is one of the most important castles in England and has beautiful, landscaped gardens designed by Capability Brown.
Stratford-on-Avon, Shakespeare’s birthplace, is a very interesting town with a lot to see - Shakespeare’s birthplace, Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, Shakespeare’s Schoolroom and Guildhall, The Attic Theatre, Stratford Butterfly, Farm, Tudor World Museum, Holy Trinity Church, The River Avon Trail, Canal and River Tours. The Royal Shakespeare Company in puts on excellent productions at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and the Swan Theatre. Please book in advance.
The British Motor Museum in Gaydon offers an insight into the British motor industry.
Batsford Arboretum, Moreton-in-Marsh, has an amazing collection of beautiful and rare trees, shrubs and bamboos in 60 acres. There is also a garden centre and a café.
Walking
You can go on lovely walks straight from the Manor. Walk down the drive and when you get to the end turn right. Walk through the wood and you will come to a gate. Once you are through the gate, there are extensive fields with footpaths for walking.
Another very nice walk is up to the Tysoe windmill which is about a 15-20 minute walk from the house. The views are spectacular.

There are direct trains from London to Banbury from Marylebone Station, which take about 1hour and 5 minutes. Banbury station is about a 20-25 minute drive from Tysoe.
